Gary - I think I got that from a tape called, "Shocking Asia".
That's real stuff.
Virtual - You don't run Mike's voice through a distortion unit. The song
from Mainesthai, "Playing God", the vocals remind me of Rich's
in Benestrophe. Did you put Rich's vocals through a distortion unit or not?
Dwayne - Mike's just yelling on that song.
Gary - On some songs we distorted Rich's voice, like "Conscience Bind",
but rarely did we ever distort Richard's voice.
Virtual - The remix for Haujobb which is called, "Yearning" (Chameleon)
is amazing, how did that come about?

Gary - Dwayne did a mix on the "Frames EP" for Haujobb and it
was basically a dance version, Dwayne had done all the programming for that.
What I did is I went in and changed all the sounds that he programmed and
it just came about in twenty minutes. We just switched all the sounds in
twenty minutes and engineered it.
Dwayne - We played a few things over, just random shit.
Virtual - It's very cool, did you get paid for it?
Gary - No
Virtual - Who contacted you for it, did Haujobb contact you directly?
Gary - Yes, I talked to them once. They seemed like nice guys. They wanted
to do a remix for us, but to be honest with you, I really don't want another
band remixing us. I think if we're going to do a remix, we'll do it ourselves.

Virtual - On the Complications CD by Decibel with great cover art, Gary
remixed Oneroid Psychosis, a song called, "Prurience" (LSD 25
mix). It is unbelievable how well you both incorporate your talents into
another band. So you have "Prurience" (LSD 25 mix) and "Soaked
With Blood" (T.H.C. edit), is it safe to say one or both of you are
into hallucinogenics and fascinated with special mind altering effects?
Please explain.
Gary & Dwayne - (LAUGHTER)
Virtual - "Battered States of Euphoria" on Where Angels Fear To
Tread has a really outstanding, moving intro. It's a beautiful fulfilling
instrumental piece. I prefer lyrics most of the time, but "Battered
States of Euphoria" can stand alone, the music speaks for its self.
What were the two of you thinking about while creating such a masterpiece?
Gary - I was home sick. I had just moved up to Austin and I was home sick,
I was thinking of a country drive, too.
Virtual - Gary, how do you feel about the police?
Gary - I don't generally care for them because I've been in jail before.
Virtual - I read that you feel environmental laws should be set and enforced?
What kinds of laws?
Gary - I think maybe they ought to grow hemp instead of cutting down trees,
I'll tell you that much. They're just fucking up the environment. People
will have to suffer. We're gonna pay the price for all the luxuries and
shit. Once you destroy the earth there isn't anything that's gonna fix it.
Virtual - I had just recently got stopped by the LAPD for flicking my cigarette
out the window. ($270.73 fine)
Gary - Well that isn't anything, man. I was busted by this rookie cop, he
must have been a pervert or something-he was checking me out. He was sticking
his flashlight down my pants and stuff, I was handcuffed and I knew there
wasn't anything I could do and he was getting his jollies, man.
Virtual - That sucks!
Gary - Yeah
Virtual - With 22 keyboards, like Memory Moog, Prodigy, Moog Source, Casio
1, Casio CZ101, Oberheim, etc.
Dwayne - Who told you that shit?
Gary - I think it's up to 25 now.
Virtual - Would you say keyboards is both of your favorite instrument?
Gary - Yeah

Virtual - Would Mentallo & The Fixer be interested in providing music
for a movie soundtrack, or maybe Japanimation videos?
Gary - Pornos
Virtual - What dude, you are not serious are you?
Gary - No, I'm kidding!
Virtual - That would be such a waste, I think. I don't get into pornos at
all.
Gary - Just imagine, we'd have all these screaming samples in the background,
but not of ecstasy, they're of pain!
Virtual - Any movies or anything?
Gary - It's a cool idea.
Dwayne - No one has contacted us.
Virtual - What about merchandise? I have one T-shirt from the Simbiose label,
it's really thin, white with the No Rest For The Wicked cover on it.
Gary - That was probably the one we were suppose to get in the mail, and
never did. We are going to have three different angel shirts, front and
back, with wording on the back and statements and shit. There's going to
be a Burnt Beyond Recognition shirt for the CD single when it comes out
called, "Prophet Of Doom".
Virtual - Have you done any photoshoots, or do you have any pictures besides
the one used in IndustrialNation?
Dwayne - The IndustrialNation photo was taken probably three years ago.
Gary - Yeah, we did a photoshoot, we have some awesome color photos of us
on a big stage with our keyboards set up and really cool lighting.
Virtual - Gary, I don't know if you know about this, but Dwayne and I had
spoke before about Mentallo & The Fixer playing for my wedding in the
year 2000.
Gary - Oh really?
Virtual - How do you feel about doing something like that? Of course, in
the initial conversation I agreed to provide you both with a flight, a place
to stay, and all kinds of hallucinogenic drugs.
Gary - That sounds good.
Virtual - I really need a great band, most definitely Mentallo & The
Fixer is the ultimate choice.
Gary - Oh, we'll do it!
Thanks for everything Gary and Dwayne! Thanks for telling me about the movie,
"Demon Seed". Your song, "Power Struggle" rules!
