Midnight are loud, rowdy, and raw. Calling themselves a blackened rock and roll thrash band, they embody something between Venom, Prong, and Motorhead. Bringing the energy of punk music, the speed of thrash metal, and the dark subject matter of black metal, the three-piece blasts out ear drums and whips up a fury in the mosh pit.

Essentially a one man project in the studio, Athenar has two additional cronies playing guitar and drums with him on stage. They all wear black hoods so they remain anonymous as they belt out songs from their twenty year career.

Just prior to embarking on this tour with the legendary Norwegian black metal gods, Mayhem, they released their latest album, "Let There Be Witchery". The Wiltern was sold out this night and packed with metal fans ready to catch the madness after a pandemic induced absence of live music.

They had a nice extended set since Watain was forced to drop off the tour due to visa issues which beefed their song count up to thirteen songs that covered seven of their many releases with a good focus on material from "Let There Be Witchery" and "Satanic Royalty".

The audience was into it with one of the most active and aggressive mosh pits I have seen in many years. Midnight's speed and ferocity are relentless with no slow downs, ballads, or even mid-tempo songs for that matter - they are literally balls to the wall energy.

Midnight got the crowd good and worked up for headliners, Mayhem and left no eardrum untouched by shear volume and intensity.
