Solitary Experiments:

The first show for us of the entire festival would be Solitary Experiments. We were just recently introduced to them via the boxed set of Paradox.

I like them quite a bit, being pure heavy electro with an aggressive sound but capable of emotionally charged, melodic songs as well.

It wasn't until we got their earlier album, "Final Approach" that we realized how awesome they were. Songs like "Liquid of Life", "Soldiers of Fortune", "Illusion Time", "Land of Illusion", and "Vision Thing" really caught our attention.

Having seen many bands last year in Werk II we knew what to expect of that venue and tried to get there a little early.

A good sized crowd was already forming and after a brief glimpse of the merchandise available we went up a little closer and watched the band before them, Tri-State.

After the band concluded we hung out and had our first (of many) Bratwurst and then moved into the photo pit.

Solitary Experiments consisted of three members, two keyboarders and the lead singer, Dennis. All were appropriately dressed in black.

Dennis was very energetic moving around the stage in between the keyboards on each side of him.

The set was mainly driven by songs from the Paradox album such as "God where are you?" and "Decline", but my favorite song was "Land of Illusion" off the earlier album.

I was hoping to hear a few more of my favorites off that album but the show was predominantly material from the newest album which was still really awesome. They put a lot of energy into the stage show and have some really great songs.

The crowd was really dynamic with a small mosh pit forming at the front and people jumping all over the place. People through-out the audience were dancing and moving to the relentless beats of Solitary Experiments.

After the show we met Dennis and he was extremely nice and super excited to meet fans from the United States.

We unfortunately missed their Los Angeles show and regret it greatly now that we saw them in Germany. Dennis said he can't wait to come back to the US so the next time we will be sure not to miss out.
